Dr. Alba Sulaj is a Clinical Professor and Deputy Medical Director at Heidelberg University Hospital's Department of Endocrinology, Diabetology, Metabolic Diseases and Clinical Chemistry. She holds multiple leadership roles including Acting Section Head of Osteology and Medical Director of the General Endocrinology Outpatient Clinic. Her work focuses on metabolic diseases, diabetes complications, and the therapeutic potential of fasting interventions. Dr. Sulaj completed her medical training at Heidelberg University and has been actively involved in clinical and translational research since 2005. She leads studies on lifestyle interventions, diabetic nephropathy, and obesity management, with funding from the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) and other institutions. Her research has been recognized with awards including the Silvia-King-Preis (2023) and DZD NEXT Fellowship (2019). She also contributes to the development of novel diagnostic methods and clinical protocols in endocrinology.
