Michael Fleming

Dr. Michael (Mike) Fleming is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton campus). He holds a PhD in Sociology with specialization in Work and Development from Memorial University of Newfoundland, alongside MA and BA degrees from UNB and St. Thomas University. His teaching focuses on public sociology/criminology and social justice, emphasizing critical approaches to power dynamics in capitalist societies. Research interests include political economy, critical criminology, toxic masculinity, policing, and corporate crime, particularly analyzing maple syrup marketing theft in Atlantic Canada.
