Michael Dilthey is a Professor of Music in the Fine and Performing Arts department at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. He holds a Doctorate in Composition from Northwestern University and Master's degrees in composition and conducting. As Artistic Director of the Greylock Opera Collective, he has composed three operas and multiple orchestral works.
His teaching encompasses music theory, counterpoint, orchestration, opera history, and conducting. Research interests include Wagnerian opera, musicological analysis, and contemporary composition techniques. His opera 'The Weeping Woman' premiered at MASS MoCA in 2019.
