Melissa Dorn is an Interim Full-Time Instructor at the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD), where she teaches in the First-Year Experience (FYE) program. A practicing artist for over 20 years, she holds a BFA from MIAD and is represented by Frank Juarez Gallery. Her work explores themes of domestic labor, feminism, and materiality through sculpture and installation art.
Exhibitions include prominent venues such as the Charles Allis Art Museum, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Aqua Art Miami. Her practice emphasizes experimentation, collaboration, and critical questioning, values she actively instills in her students. Key works include the 'Mop' series and installations like The Everyday Feminist: Fine China and Mopping Up.
Dorn’s art is featured in corporate collections such as Tax-Air, Northwestern Mutual, and the Mandel Group. She remains deeply engaged with MIAD, balancing teaching with a prolific exhibition schedule.
