Matthew Ryan Kilgore is an Adjunct Instructor of Music and Director of the Scot Marching Band at the College of Wooster. He holds a DMA from the University of North Texas, a Master of Music from Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Music from Rutgers University. His expertise spans percussion performance, chamber music, steel band, and marching arts. Kilgore has performed internationally with ensembles like Third Coast Percussion and Michael W. Smith, and his recordings include features on the University of North Texas’ Percussion Ensemble CD Marimba Heritage.
As a percussionist and educator, he has served as staff and music ensemble coordinator for the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps (2008–2013, 2014–present), contributing to five medals including their historic 2016 gold. He also leads Rhythm X Indoor Percussion Ensemble for 11 years, earning three gold medals. Kilgore’s accolades include top honors in the Paris Marimba Competition and representing the U.S. in the World Marimba Competition.
