Matthew Jankowski

Matthew Jankowski is a Researcher at James Cook University's ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, specializing in coral reef ecosystems and fish distributions. Affiliated with Australia's premier coral reef research institution from 2005-2022, he contributes to the Centre's mission of understanding reef dynamics and human-ecosystem relationships.

His primary research focus encompasses Marine Biology, Coral Reef Studies, and Tropical Marine Biology, with specific expertise in how depth affects coral reef fish distribution patterns. His fieldwork spans both the Great Barrier Reef and Kimbe Bay in Papua New Guinea, examining habitat use and species specialization across different reef environments. This research contributes to broader understanding of reef resilience in changing ocean conditions.

Working under the supervision of Professor Geoff Jones and Dr Nick Graham, Jankowski employs field research methodologies to document ecological patterns.
