Research Interests:
- Ecology of coral reef fish populations and communities
- Marine conservation biology and environmental impact assessment
- Marine animal behavior, particularly homing mechanisms and habitat specialization
Key contributions focus on coral reef resilience, larval connectivity, and the impacts of human and natural disturbances. His work spans Australia, Oceania, and Papua New Guinea. Over 100 students have been supervised, with recent topics including disturbance effects on reef fish communities and habitat architecture impacts.
Publications emphasize connectivity, marine reserves, and behavioral adaptations, with articles in PLoS ONE, Molecular Ecology, and Marine Ecology Progress Series.
