Matthew Durrant

Matthew Durrant is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Music at the University of Utah, where he teaches music theory. He also serves as a theory faculty member at the Gifted Music School in Salt Lake City.

Durrant's compositional work spans traditional to atonal styles, with a focus on brass and wind instruments. His music often reflects the influence of the American West, particularly Idaho and Utah, and has been performed nationally at concerts and festivals.

He has studied trombone extensively and performed with various ensembles, while maintaining a strong interest in piano performance and solo instrument compositions.

Outside of academia, Matthew enjoys outdoor activities like hiking and mountain climbing, alongside family time.
