Matthew Clayton is a Professor of Political Theory at the Department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick, UK. He held the role of Project Visiting Expert for the Family Justice project from 3-7 June 2019. His research focuses on distributive justice, foundational liberal political thought, and applied philosophy, particularly in education. Clayton has authored Justice and Legitimacy in Upbringing (Oxford University Press, 2006) and co-edited The Ideal of Equality (Palgrave, 2002) and Social Justice (Blackwell, 2004). During his 2019 visit, he presented a co-authored paper titled “Against Religious School” and spoke on “Intimacy and Anti-Perfectionism in Upbringing” at the conference What are Children Owed?
