Steven Lecce is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Arts. He has been teaching since 2007, specializing in political theory, history of political thought, and contemporary political issues. His research focuses on theories of justice, identity politics, and critiques of liberalism.
Education: PhD (Political Science, 2004) from University of Western Ontario; MA (Political Science, 1994) and BA Honours (University of Toronto, 1993).
Research interests include contemporary political theory, history of political thought, and global human rights struggles. He has authored/co-edited works like Against Perfectionism (2008) and Fragile Freedoms (2017), and recently co-edited Justice, Rights, and Toleration (2024).
Recipient of the 2005 Vincent Lemieux Prize for best PhD thesis in political science. Currently teaches courses such as POLS 2302 (Introduction to Political Theory) and POLS 4310/7270 (Democracy/Identity and Politics).
