Dr. Matt Byars is an Associate Professor in the Humanities Department at Lubbock Christian University (LCU), where he has served for sixteen years. He holds a Ph.D. in Creative Writing from Georgia State University, an M.A. in Medieval/Renaissance Drama from Texas Tech University, and a B.A. in Humanities (History) from LCU.
His research interests span Creative Writing, Medieval/Renaissance Drama, and broader literary studies. He actively contributes to the academic community by editing the Chap Book and engaging in scholarly activities. Beyond academia, he enjoys woodworking, tennis, and family life. Dr. Byars is married to Heather, a Speech and Debate teacher at Frenship High School, and they have four children. The family attends South Plains Church of Christ and recently traveled to Israel with Dr. Long.
