Kenneth Hawley is a Professor of English and Associate Provost for Academic Affairs at Lubbock Christian University (LCU). He also directs The Brian S. Donaghey Center for Boethian Studies and previously led The Rhodes Family Institute for Undergraduate Research. His academic affiliations include the Honors College, Humanities department, and Provost office at LCU.
Education: Ph.D. in English (University of Kentucky), M.A. in English (Texas Tech University), B.A. in Literature and History (University of Houston at Clear Lake). His doctoral work focused on Boethius' De Consolatione Philosophiæ translations across Anglo-Saxon, Middle, and Early Modern English periods.
Research interests span medieval/renaissance literature (Beowulf, Chaucer, Milton), digital humanities (computing for textual analysis), and film studies. He co-edits Carmina Philosophiæ journal and manages a rare book collection on Boethius. Recent work includes critical editions of 17th-century philosophical texts and presentations on Boethius’ influence in literature and theology.
Teaching includes courses in literature, technical writing, film studies, and religious poetry. He has collaborated with the International Boethius Society to curate digital archives of Boethian manuscripts. Future projects include upcoming journal volumes (2023–2024) and expanding the Center’s digital resources.
