Matt Blauer is an Instructor of Trombone at Wichita State University (WSU), affiliated with the School of Music within the College of Fine Arts. He has been teaching at WSU for over a decade and performs with the Wichita State University Faculty Brass Quintet. Additionally, he serves as Personnel Manager of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, where he has been a member since 1994.
Blauer began his freelance trombone career at age 16, collaborating with renowned artists such as Doc Severinsen, Ray Charles, and Bob Hope. He leads his own brass quintet, established in the late 1980s, which specializes in weddings, church services, recitals, and other events. His professional experience spans over three decades in both classical and ensemble performance.
While no formal research grants or academic awards are noted, his contributions to music education and performance are central to his career. He maintains active involvement in community engagement through free trial lessons and ensemble outreach.
