Lucas Hulett

Lucas Hulett is an Assistant Teaching Professor and Director of Athletic Bands at the School of Music within Wichita State University's College of Fine Arts. He specializes in brass instruments (trombone, euphonium, tuba) and has extensive performance experience in classical, jazz, and Latin music genres. Hulett holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Master of Music from Wichita State University.

His research interests focus on music performance pedagogy, jazz ensemble dynamics, and cross-cultural musical fusion. He has performed with renowned artists like Tito Puente Jr., Jerry Rivera, and N’Klabe, and led groups like Buzz City Brass and Intrepid Brass.

Notable achievements include the Indie Golden Melody Award-winning album All kinds of Good (2017). His work spans album recordings, salsa band performances, and educational outreach through brass quintets and masterclasses.

Lucas directs Wichita State's athletic bands and maintains a private teaching studio, emphasizing both technical skill and artistic expression.
