Matías Osta Vélez

Matías Osta Vélez is a Lecturer at the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of the Republic. He is also affiliated as an External Member with IHPST (Institute for History and Philosophy of Science and Technology).

Education:

• PhD in Philosophy of Cognitive Science (supervised by Stephan Hartmann and Max Kistler), jointly at Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP) and IHPST, Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University
• Studies in Philosophy, Logic, and Cognitive Science at University of the Republic, University of Paris 1, University of Paris 4 Sorbonne, and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich

His research centers on the foundations of cognitive science, with specialized focus on conceptual spaces and reasoning frameworks. Secondary interests include social epistemology, non-monotonic/relevant logics, scientific rationality, and inferentialist approaches in philosophy of language.
