Prof. Martin Ostertag is a Professor of Cello at the University of Music Karlsruhe since 1980. His career includes roles as first principal cellist in prominent orchestras such as the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, Amati Ensemble Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin Orchestra, and the Southwest German Radio Symphony Orchestra of Baden-Baden and Freiburg (since 1974). He has conducted masterclasses globally and is recognized for his exceptional performance art through international tours and recordings.
Education: Studied with Leo Koscielny at the University of Music Karlsruhe, and under André Navarra in Paris and Detmold.
Research interests focus on cello performance techniques, music pedagogy, and classical orchestral traditions. His awards highlight his artistic excellence, including the 1967 Vienna Competition laureateship and 1968 German Music Council recognition.
