Marcella Reekie

Marcella Reekie is an Instructor Emeritus in the Department of English at Kansas State University. She retired in August 2022 after 37 years of service, including roles as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (1982–1985), Temporary Instructor (1985), Regularized Instructor (1988), and Senior Instructor. She specialized in Written Communication for Engineers, teaching ENGL 415 since 1984, and created a free digital textbook via an Open Access Textbook Grant (2015–2016).

Education: B.Sc. in English and History (Union College, 1982) and M.A. in English (Kansas State University, 1985, emphasis in Literature). Awards include the 2017 English Department Teaching Award and 2019 W. T. Kemper Foundation Award. She advised engineering colleagues during ABETT accreditation, edited manuscripts for graduate students and faculty, and collaborated with industry partners like ISSolutions and Delta Systems.

Her contributions span pedagogical innovation in technical writing and mentorship of new instructors. She also served on committees for Professional/Technical Writing and Technical Writing Awards.
