Lynne Baxter

Dr. Lynne Baxter is a Senior Lecturer in Management Systems at the School for Business and Society, University of York. Her career spans academic roles at institutions including the University of Glasgow, Heriot-Watt University, and the University of York. She holds a PhD from Manchester Business School, focusing on organizational power dynamics in computer system implementations. Her research interests include performance improvement, supply chain management, gender studies, organizational symbolism, and research methodologies.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Edinburgh, researching Scotch Whisky Industry takeovers.
• PhD from Manchester Business School on LAN implementation in organizations.

Research & Awards: Lynne co-authored Managing Performance Improvements (2008) and has been recognized with the 2004 Sage Publication Award for her research methodology work. She currently explores supply chain dissolution and gender in engineering design.

Professional Activities: Co-founder of SCMG Ltd, a consultancy based on supply chain research. Secretary of the Standing Conference on Organizational Symbolism (750+ members). Involved in projects funded by EPSRC and SHEFC, including KTP collaborations with United Central Bakeries.

Engagement: Active in organizing academic conferences and delivering invited talks on topics such as organizational symbolism and gender in management.
