Lynn Nichol is Professor of Human Resource Development at Worcester Business School, University of Worcester, and serves as Staff Researcher Development Lead. She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
Her research centers on Critical Human Resource Development with emphases on work-based practice, knowledge transfer, machine learning applications in HR analytics, and working lives in faith-based organizations. She investigates the psychological contract in contemporary work contexts, particularly within clergy and religious institutions, while exploring employee relations, career trajectories, and organizational resilience through qualitative methodologies.
Professor Nichol has supervised 13 doctoral students to completion (9 PhDs, 3 DBAs, 1 MRes) across diverse topics including NHS workforce retention, machine learning for turnover prediction, faith-based organizational performance, and telework experiences. As Staff Researcher Development Lead, she designs research training for doctoral candidates and teaches reflective practice and research methods on the DBA program.
She co-chairs the University Forum for Human Resource Development (UFHRD), a European academic network, and contributes to the People and Work Research Theme within the Interpersonal Relationships and Well-being Research Group. Key professional recognitions include:
