Luke Waring is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Asian Studies at the College of Liberal Arts, The University of Texas at Austin. He holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University and previously served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Chinese Studies at Stanford University's Center for East Asian Studies.

Research Interests: Dr. Waring specializes in early Chinese literature and cultural history (1250 BCE–220 CE), with core expertise in philology, manuscript studies, material culture, epigraphy, poetry, and aesthetics. His highly interdisciplinary work bridges literature, history, religion, art, and archaeology. He is currently finalizing his book Writing and Materiality in Ancient China: The Textual Culture of the Mawangdui Tombs for Columbia University Press, and his research has been published in leading journals including Early China, T'oung Pao, and the Journal of the American Oriental Society.
