About
Luke Waring holds the academic rank of Research Fellow. He earned his Ph.D. in East Asian Studies from Princeton University in 2019. His research focuses on early Chinese texts and their materiality, particularly examining how elites engaged with written texts as material artifacts. Central to his work is the interdisciplinary study of the Mawangdui Tombs, analyzing diverse forms of writing from the mid-second century BCE. His first book project, provisionally titled 'Writing and Materiality in an Ancient Chinese Kingdom: The Textual Culture of the Mawangdui Tombs,' explores the role of texts as objects within elite material and visual cultures.
