Prof Louise Lu is a Professor of Accounting at the Australian National University's Research School of Accounting, where she also serves as Convenor of HDR and Co-Director of the Australian National Centre for Audit & Assurance Research (ANCAAR). She holds a PhD and BCom (Hons) from ANU, along with CPA certification. Her research focuses on financial accounting, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and corporate finance, with notable work on voluntary disclosures, tax avoidance, and stock price crash risks. She has published in top journals including Journal of Accounting and Economics and Strategic Management Journal.
Prof Lu's research explores topics such as CEO experience influencing CSR strategies, the impact of political corruption on corporate behavior, and regulatory frameworks affecting audit practices. She co-leads projects like 'Media Consolidation, Local News and Corporate Tax Avoidance' (2023–2024) and serves on editorial boards for Accounting and Finance and Emerging Markets Review. She founded the Early Career Researchers Support Network (ECRSN) to foster academic development and wellbeing.
Her recent articles analyze global leniency laws' impact on cartelization, the role of CEO adverse experiences in management forecasts, and patent litigation effects on R&D disclosures. These studies highlight trends in regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and transparency in financial reporting.
Prof Lu advises PhD students and has secured grants for research on topics like CEO professional experience and risk disclosures. She collaborates with ANCAAR on audit assurance issues and leads ECRSN to support emerging scholars.
