Lisa Pavia-Higel

Lisa Pavia-Higel is an Assistant Teaching Professor at Missouri S&T’s English and Technical Communication department since 2024, specializing in communications, public speaking, and media literacy. With over 15 years of college-level teaching experience, she emphasizes helping students develop their creative and professional voices. Her proudest achievement includes the Phi Theta Kappa Excellence in Teaching Award (awarded during the pandemic) and the B. Ray Henry Campus Service Award from Jefferson College.

• Education: MA in New Media Storytelling and MA in Strategic Communication (both from Webster University), BA in Mass Media Communication

Her research interests focus on interpersonal communication, media production, and political depolarization. She actively works with organizations like The Awareness Institute and Braver Angels to promote dialog across differences. Lisa also runs TheClarityGeek, offering media influence training and speaking engagements, and creates documentary content across platforms. She is an active member of St. Louis theater communities and advocates for inclusivity in communication practices.
