Libe García Zarranz is a Professor of Cultural Theory and Literatures in English at NTNU's Department of Teacher Education (ILU), within the Faculty of Social and Educational Sciences. Her research focuses on intersections of feminist, queer, crip, and trans approaches in contemporary Canadian literature, visual cultures, and affect theory. She leads the TransLit research group (2018–present), funded by NTNU, and participates in international projects such as Cinema and Environment 2 and Communitas/Immunitas. Her scholarly work spans monographs, edited volumes, and peer-reviewed articles, with a focus on trans literature, pedagogical innovation, and critical theory.
Education: PhD in English and Film Studies (University of Alberta, 2013), MA in Textual and Cultural Studies (University of Zaragoza, Spain). Awards include the Governor General’s Gold Medal (2013) and Trudeau Foundation Scholarship (2010–2013). Teaching roles include coordinating MA programs in English and doctoral courses on research ethics at NTNU, as well as feminist theory courses at the University of Cambridge and University of Innsbruck.
Research interests cluster around affect theory, trans studies, and sustainable ethics, with recent work analyzing trans visual art, animated film, and pedagogical frameworks. Her 2024 book Living and Learning with Feminist Ethics explores intersections of ethics, literature, and art. Key projects include analyzing environmental film aesthetics and trans narratives in global contexts.
Professional service includes editorial roles at The Raymond Carver Review and Journal of Artistic Creation and Literary Research, as well as advisory roles for the Society for the Study of Affect. Grants include €223,560 from NTNU’s International Research Funding (2018) for transnational cultural studies projects.
