Dr. Libby Flanagan is a Lecturer in the General Engineering Program at Clemson University. She holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and Science Education (2024), M.S. in Biosystems Engineering (2021), and B.S. in Biosystems Engineering (2017), all from Clemson University. Her research focuses on engineering education, particularly empathy-driven pedagogy, student identity development, and STEM curriculum design. She also conducts studies in biosystems engineering, including algal growth dynamics and environmental chemistry.
Dr. Flanagan teaches courses such as ENGR 1020 (Engineering Disciplines and Skills) and ENGR 1410 (Programming and Problem-Solving). She has held roles as a Graduate Teacher of Record and Research Assistant in Biosystems Engineering. Professional memberships include the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) and Tau Beta Pi (TBP).
Her recent publications explore empathy education’s impact on engineering students and algal growth mechanisms. She previously served as a Teach for America Corps Member at Collegiate Hall Charter School in Tulsa, OK.
