Koenraad Lenaerts is a Professor of European Law at the University of Leuven since 1983, currently holding the rank of 'buitengewoon hoogleraar' (extraordinary professor) since 1990. He serves as President of the Court of Justice of the European Union since October 2015 and was a Judge of the Court of Justice of the European Communities from 2003 to 2015. His academic career includes founding the Institute of European Law at Leuven.
