Laura Rook

Dr. Laura Rook is a Senior Lecturer in Management at the School of Business, University of Wollongong, and currently serves as Deputy Associate Dean (Education) for the Faculty of Business and Law. She previously held the role of Director of Academic Programs for Management, Human Resource Management, and International Business (2023-2024). Her academic career at the University of Wollongong spans over a decade, with a focus on enhancing curriculum design, work-integrated learning (WIL), and student employability.

Her research interests center on work-integrated learning, employability, human resource management, and the application of generative AI in education. Notably, she has led initiatives to develop quality WIL programs, foster reflective practices, and integrate technology to improve student outcomes. Laura also contributed to redeveloping a faculty-wide business capstone program, emphasizing real-world sustainability and governance projects through industry collaboration.

In service and leadership roles, Laura serves as an Associate Editor for the European Management Journal (2020–2022) and is a member of the Australian Collaborative Education Network. Her funded research includes a cross-disciplinary study on reflection in work-integrated learning (2022). Laura actively reviews for journals like Business Ethics; A European Review and has supervised doctoral research on WIL alignment with stakeholder needs.

Her publications span healthcare resource management case studies, pandemic-era academic integrity challenges, mindfulness in education, and WIL design in business education. Laura’s work bridges theory and practice, aiming to strengthen educational outcomes and workforce readiness through innovative pedagogy and stakeholder engagement.
