Laura Domm Taaffe is an Assistant Professor of Legal Research and Writing at Cumberland School of Law, Samford University. She holds a BS in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University (2000) and a JD from Vanderbilt University (2003), where she served as Managing Editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review. Prior to academia, she worked for 18 years in the federal court system, including roles as a law clerk for Judge James H. Hancock and staff attorney for Judge R. David Proctor in the Northern District of Alabama. Her career included labor and employment litigation, brief/opinion writing, and oral advocacy.
Teaching and research interests focus on legal writing pedagogy, employment discrimination law, and labor law. She was honored with Cumberland's 2022-23 Harvey S. Jackson Teaching Excellence Award, recognizing her contributions to legal education.
