Laska Jimsen

Laska Jimsen is an Associate Professor of Cinema and Media Studies at Carleton University since 2011. She teaches courses in nonfiction filmmaking, advanced production workshops, and Los Angeles-based cinema programs focused on experimental and iconic media.

• Education: MFA from Temple University.

Her research and pedagogical interests span film studies, narrative production, documentary filmmaking, and media education, with an emphasis on creative practices in Los Angeles. She also explores experimental media and screenwriting through experiential learning programs.

Her academic role involves direct engagement with students in production-centric courses, including CAMS 270: Nonfiction, CAMS 370: Advanced Production Workshop I, and specialized Los Angeles-based programs.
