Joe Petricca

Joe Petricca is an Adjunct Professor in the Film Department at ArtCenter College of Design, where he has taught since 2022. He is also the Chief Academic Advisor for IAFM, a film school in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and has taught or spoken at institutions and events worldwide, including Los Angeles City College, New York Film Academy, Art Division, and film festivals across New York, London, India, Japan, and China.

Joe Petricca is a writer, filmmaker, and educator with extensive experience in screenwriting and film direction. His research and creative interests include cinematic storytelling, visual narrative, adaptation of literature and true stories, virtual reality in film, and French cinema. He has contributed to Turner Classic Movies and developed educational VR content. His teaching spans advanced directing, thesis creation, set safety, and internships.

Joe has been recognized for his cultural contributions, most notably receiving the Chevalier of Academic Palms from the French government in 2007 for promoting French cinema in Los Angeles. His curatorial work includes film series for the Norton Simon Museum and guest artist contributions to LARIVERX, now archived.

He has advised and taught students globally and volunteered for seven years teaching screenwriting and filmmaking to at-risk teenagers in Los Angeles. While no formal grants are listed, his international educational outreach and curatorial projects reflect a strong commitment to film pedagogy and public engagement.

Joe is involved in academic leadership as Chief Academic Advisor at IAFM and contributes to graduate and undergraduate film education at ArtCenter through thesis supervision, directing workshops, and program reviews.
