Landon Gauthier is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Carthage College. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Kentucky, advised by Dr. Russell Brown, with a dissertation focusing on improving the regularity of coefficients in inverse problems involving the polyharmonic operator. His research interests span analysis, mathematical modeling, and the history of mathematics. He previously earned his undergraduate degree from UW-Platteville, where he co-founded a math modeling club and participated in regional competitions.
Prof. Gauthier emphasizes student engagement at Carthage, aiming to expose students to academic and extracurricular opportunities. Beyond academia, he enjoys sports, golfing, and spending time with his wife and cats, named after mathematicians Georg Cantor and Henrietta Lebesgue.
