Professor Dimitri Shapovalov is a scholar, educator, and choir director at Carthage College, where he has been part of the music faculty since 2005. His roles include teaching courses in music history and music theatre analysis, as well as leading the choral program on campus.

Prof. Shapovalov’s professional interests include musicology, academic writing, music analysis, and choral directing. As a musicologist, he is a published author and translator focusing on Russian culture at the turn of the 20th century. As a choral conductor, he has served as artistic director for multiple choirs, including the A. F. Siebert Chapel Choir, Kenosha Choral Arts Society, and Carthage Treble Choir, while remaining active as a choral clinician and adjudicator.
