Lakshmi Ananthakrishnan

Lakshmi Ananthakrishnan, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and holds the role of Medical Director for Computed Tomography. She is affiliated with the Abdominal Imaging Division and provides clinical services at Parkland Hospital and Clements University Hospital. Her academic leadership includes chairing the Abdominal Imaging CT Protocol Committee and serving on multiple committees focused on spectral CT technology and operations.

Dr. Ananthakrishnan’s education includes a bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the University of Louisville, followed by medical school at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She completed her radiology residency at the Cleveland Clinic and a fellowship in MR body imaging at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Prior to UT Southwestern, she practiced radiology at the Cleveland Clinic and in private practice.

Her research emphasizes advanced CT technologies, including multispectral CT applications, renal stone characterization via CT, and renal mass analysis. She actively contributes to minimizing radiation exposure in imaging practices and advancing spectral CT protocols.

Professional memberships include the Society of Abdominal Radiology, American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, and others. Her work integrates clinical expertise, technological innovation, and academic leadership in abdominal imaging and radiology.
