Lacy Overley

Dr. Lacy Overley is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling at Arkansas State University. Her work centers on play therapy, with a focus on children diagnosed with autism and trauma, as well as counselor education.

• Current projects include finalizing accreditation for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and developing a Play Therapy certificate program.

Dr. Overley emphasizes empowering clients through counseling and advocates for the importance of seeking help during challenging times. She was mentored by Dr. Marilyn Snow, who played a pivotal role in her career by involving her in building a play therapy center and program. Outside of academia, she enjoys live music, college sports, and outdoor activities such as hiking and kayaking.
