Kimberly Wade is a Professor of Foundation Studies at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), serving as Associate Chair since 2022. Previously, she held roles including Chair of Multidisciplinary Studies and Digital Communications Media at Marymount California University (2011–2022), and Adjunct Professorships at multiple institutions including Rhode Island School of Design and University of Rhode Island. She earned an M.F.A. in Digital Media from RISD and a B.A. in Art/Interdisciplinary Studies from UC Berkeley.
Her research focuses on digital media innovation, interdisciplinary art education, and the intersection of technology with cultural identity. She has exhibited globally in venues like AltspaceVR (2020), SOMArts Cultural Center (2016), and the New Mexico Museum (2012), with works exploring themes of virtual reality, social justice, and African diasporic narratives. Her awards include the Catalyst Arts Fellowship (2005–06) and Intel Art Residencies (2012).
Wade has produced VR art projects like Intimate Immersion (2018) and co-directed TransJourney (2014). She actively contributes to professional organizations including Adobe Educator Leadership Program and SIGGRAPH. Her teaching spans over two decades across K-12, community colleges, and universities, emphasizing inclusive pedagogy and emerging technologies.
