Kerry Mills

Kerry Mills serves as Assistant Professor of Art History and Chair of the Art Department at Mary Baldwin University, while also advising MBU Online programs.

Education:

• BS, BFA, MA from Virginia Commonwealth University

Research Focus: Specializing in American Art and Modernism, Mills conducts foundational research on Barnett Newman (thesis: 'Reconsidering Barret Newman') and Davi Det Hompson's Fluxus connections. Her work incorporates primary interviews with Clement Greenberg, Irving Sandler, Helen Frankenthaler and other key figures, examining intersections between Mail Art practices and avant-garde movements.

• MBU Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award

Academic Engagement: Three-time presenter at the South Eastern College Art Conference, Graduate Lecturer at the National Gallery of Art, and active co-curator of exhibitions in Richmond and New York. Current projects include a Hompson monograph with VCU archives and Fluxus relationship analysis.
