Trey Pollard

Trey Pollard is an Adjunct Professor of Jazz Guitar in the Department of Music at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), part of the VCUarts School of the Arts. Based in Richmond, VA, he works across genres such as jazz, indie rock, and contemporary classical music as a guitarist, composer, and arranger.

• Education: Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from VCUarts Music
• Professional Roles: Co-owner of Spacebomb Group (production, management, record label); founder of Straight Ahead Samples (sampled sound libraries)

Pollard’s performance career includes tours with artists like Foxygen, Natalie Prass, Sara Bareilles, and Josh Groban. As an arranger/orchestrator, he has collaborated with Mandy Moore, Helado Negro, and Matthew E. White, conducting recordings in Richmond, New York, and London. In 2022, he composed the trumpet concerto The More They Stay The Same, premiered by the Richmond Symphony under VCU professor Daniel Myssyk. A recent video highlights his work as arranger/orchestrator/conductor/contractor. His 2018 solo album Antiphone features classical chamber music compositions.
