About
Dr. Kenneth R. Shroyer is a SUNY Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Pathology at Stony Brook Medicine, with a career spanning over three decades in anatomic and clinical pathology, cytopathology, and gynecologic oncology. He pioneered foundational methods in in situ hybridization and tyramide signal amplification, and currently leads research on nuclear keratin 17 as a biomarker in carcinomas.
- Prior Affiliation: University of Colorado Health Sciences Center (1991-2007)
- Academic Training: PhD in Experimental Pathology (University of Colorado), MD (University of Colorado School of Medicine)
- Leadership: President of Stony Brook Pathologists, Director of Cytopathology & Surgical Pathology (1993-2007)
Research Interests focus on molecular pathology of cancers, particularly keratin 17's role in pancreatic, gynecologic, and lung carcinomas. His work bridges immunohistochemistry, nano-biotechnology, and digital pathology for improved diagnostics.
Publication Trends show sustained contributions to pancreatic cancer (2019-2024), lung cancer (2024), and foundational work in cell immortality markers (2002). Recent studies emphasize immune topography analysis and molecular diagnostics.
