Kelly Schrum is a Professor in the Higher Education Program at George Mason University's College of Humanities and Social Sciences and Interim Director of Graduate Programs at the School of Integrative Studies. She earned a BA in History and Anthropology from UC Berkeley and an MA/PhD in History from Johns Hopkins University.
Her research explores scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), history of higher education, and digital pedagogy—including online learning, scholarly digital storytelling, and digital humanities. She co-edits Teaching & Learning Inquiry (ISSOTL journal) and received George Mason University's Teaching Excellence Award (2024).
Her projects investigate augmented reality for college access, library self-efficacy via gamification, and inquiry-based learning, supported by grants from NEH, ACLS, and 4-VA. She directs over 50 digital humanities initiatives, including Unpacking the History of Higher Education and World History Commons.
