Steve A. Harris-Scott is currently the Academic Director at INTO George Mason University and serves as an Affiliate Professor with the Department of History and Art History, Center for Mason Legacies, and Institute for Immigration Research. He is the founder and director of the Minor in Health, Disease, and Culture.

Research Interests: Steve’s work spans U.S. History, focusing on Colonial Virginia and the Early Modern Atlantic World. His scholarship examines bound/unfree labor systems (slavery, indentured servitude, apprenticeship), environmental history, and the historical impact of diseases and pandemics. He also contributes to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

Teaching: Courses taught include HIST 125: Introduction to World History, HIST 387: Global History of Disease, INYO 501/502/504: Graduate Transitions for International Students, and HNRS 110/240: Honors research and inquiry courses.
