Dr. Katie Everson serves as an Associate Professor in the Occupational Therapy program at the University of Charleston, bringing over a decade of clinical expertise in mental health and pediatric therapy with emphasis on play-based and trauma-informed care principles.
She earned her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Bay Path University in Massachusetts, where her research investigated innovative therapeutic interventions for children and adults affected by complex trauma.
Her research spans mental health, pediatric therapy, trauma-informed care, pelvic and women's health, sensory processing, and emerging practice areas. Dr. Everson integrates evidence-based practices into teaching to foster critical thinking while conducting community workshops for families and educators to promote occupational therapy's role in quality-of-life enhancement.
As an active mentor for doctoral research students, she has presented at the AOTA Children and Youth Conference and maintains strong community engagement through professional outreach initiatives.
