Katherine Roe

Katherine Roe, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor and Chair of the Education and Educational Psychology Department at Western Connecticut State University. She transitioned from being a Special Education Teacher in New York City to academia, where her work focuses on literacy, special education, and classroom technology integration to support diverse learners.

Dr. Roe's research examines barriers to literacy and academic reading acquisition for English language learners. She leads Connecticut State Teacher Certification efforts for student teacher candidates and previously managed New York's teacher certification process at the City University of New York (CUNY).

The Mixed-Reality Simulation Lab at WCSU is among her affiliated resources. Her doctoral studies in Educational Psychology laid the foundation for her current work in inclusive pedagogy and differentiated instruction.
