KM Islam

Dr. KM Islam serves as Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Biostatistics, Data Science, & Epidemiology at Augusta University's School of Public Health, where he also directs the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences track within the Masters in Public Health program.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Case Western Reserve University (2005)
• MPH in Public Health from Tulane University (1996)

Research Focus: His work critically examines pandemic response systems through epidemiological lenses, investigating rural-urban vaccination disparities, healthcare workforce resilience during crises, and social determinants of cancer screening behavior. Methodologically, he specializes in survival analysis and cross-sectional survey design to address health equity gaps in infectious disease management and oncology care access.

Publication Trends: 2024 manuscripts reveal intense focus on pandemic aftermath analysis (vaccination uptake, nursing readiness) alongside strategic reviews of therapeutic interventions (epinephrine, tyrosine kinase inhibitors). This output demonstrates interdisciplinary fusion of biostatistics, clinical pharmacology, and health policy to tackle systemic vulnerabilities exposed by global health emergencies.
