Julien Beaudiment

Julien Beaudiment serves as International Visiting Professor of Flute at the Royal Northern College of Music. He concurrently holds the position of Principal Flute at the Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Lyon, following his tenure as Principal Flute of the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel. Beaudiment also teaches at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon and the regional conservatory in Paris Rueil-Malmaison.

His educational background includes studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and the Conservatoire de Paris, where he earned the prestigious Premier Prix de Flûte. Originally from La Rochelle and Bordeaux, his musical journey has been significantly shaped by his experiences in London and Los Angeles.

Beaudiment specializes in flute performance across diverse classical repertoire, with particular expertise in orchestral and solo works. His performance career spans major international venues including the Théâtre du Châtelet (Paris), Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, Berlin Konzerthaus, Walt Disney Hall (Los Angeles), and the Beijing National Center for the Performing Arts. He has collaborated with renowned orchestras such as the Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Lyon, Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie am Rhein, Seoul Gangnam Philharmonic, Chicago Philharmonic, and the Mariinsky Orchestra.

His performance history includes appearances at iconic venues like the Hollywood Bowl, Suntory Hall, Concertgebouw, and Royal Albert Hall, working with leading ensembles including the Berliner Philharmoniker, London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia, and Orchestre de Paris under conductors such as Dudamel, Salonen, Rattle, Pappano, and John Williams.

As an educator, Beaudiment teaches annually at the Nice International Summer Academy and Domaine Forget in Canada. He regularly gives masterclasses at prestigious institutions worldwide including Juilliard and Colburn in the United States, Guildhall and Royal College in the UK, Sibelius Academy in Finland, and numerous conservatories across Europe and Asia. He previously served as Principal Flute with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, notable as the only French musician to hold this position in a British orchestra.
