Julian Rachlin

Julian Rachlin is a prominent violinist and violist affiliated with the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK), where he has been a lecturer since 1999. He specializes in violin and viola performance, chamber music, and orchestral collaboration. His career spans performances in major concert halls worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, and collaborations with renowned orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic and conductors like Vladimir Ashkenazy and Riccardo Muti.

Education: Studied violin at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz (with Prof. Boris Kuschnir) and the former Vienna Conservatory (now MUK).

Research & Performance: Known for world premieres such as Penderecki’s Sextet with Mstislav Rostropovich and Yuri Bashmet. His viola repertoire is central to his performances since 2000. Founded the annual 'Julian Rachlin and Friends' festival in 2000.

Awards: Award from the Accademia Musicale Chigiana.
