Lawrence Dutton

Lawrence Dutton is a Professor of Viola and Chamber Music at Stony Brook University and a Distinguished Artist at the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University. As a member of the 9-time Grammy Award-winning Emerson String Quartet, he has collaborated with renowned artists like Isaac Stern, Mstislav Rostropovich, and Sir Paul McCartney. His career spans decades of international performance, guest artistry with prominent ensembles, and leadership as Artistic Director of the Hoch Chamber Music Series since 2001.

Education

• Bachelor's and Master's degrees in viola from the Juilliard School, studying under Lillian Fuchs
