Juan Maria Rius Gibert

Dr. Juan Maria Rius Gibert serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Construction Engineering at the School of Industrial Engineering and Construction, University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), a position held since 2008 while concurrently directing construction projects at the Consell de Mallorca's Insular Directorate of Roads.

His academic foundation includes a Civil Engineering degree specializing in Soil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (1996), with prior teaching experience at UPC (1998-2000).

Research focuses on geotechnical engineering fundamentals—particularly slope stability analysis and numerical calculation models—while expanding into construction technologies and innovative structural applications of shape memory alloys. This work, disseminated through fifteen-plus publications and international research collaborations, is anchored in the ConStruct R&D group.

He actively teaches Geotechnics and Foundations across UIB's Building and Agricultural Engineering degrees, with documented instruction through the 2025-26 academic year.
