Sandra Del Río Bonnín

Sandra Del Río Bonnín serves as an Assistant Professor in Construction Engineering within the School of Industrial Engineering and Construction at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). She is an active member of the ConStruct R&D group and maintains a dual academic focus bridging architectural practice and materials physics research.

Her research centers on innovative structural materials, particularly shape memory alloys (SMA) and corrosion-affected structures, with applications targeting enhanced durability and sustainability in construction. Early work included cultural sound heritage documentation of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter door hardware, while her doctoral research analyzed precast hollow-core slabs with SMA integration through material studies, experimental campaigns, and pilot applications. This produced a JCR Q1 journal publication and international conference presentations.
