Joshua Chambers-Letson is a Professor and Department Chair of Performance Studies at Northwestern University’s School of Communication. His research intersects performance theory, queer of color critique, and contemporary art, focusing on survival and continuance for marginalized communities.

He is the author of two award-winning books: After the Party: A Manifesto for Queer of Color Life (2018) and A Race So Different: Law and Performance in Asian America (2014), both recipients of the ATHE Outstanding Book Award. His work has been featured in institutions like the Whitney Museum and the Smithsonian Institute.
His recent publications and editorial work include co-editing José Esteban Muñoz’s The Sense of Brown and serving as series co-editor for NYU Press’s Sexual Cultures series. Awards include the 2019 Erroll Hill Award and fellowships at Wesleyan, Yale, and the Felix Gonzalez-Torres Foundation.
