Jonathan Sterne is Professor and James McGill Chair in Culture and Technology at McGill University's Department of Art History and Communication Studies. He has written extensively on sound history, media, and technology, with notable works including MP3: The Meaning of a Format and The Audible Past. While at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG), he is working on the book Tuning Time: Histories of Sound and Speed with Mara Mills.
